Leather Lane reopens

Leather Lane is now open again – to the great relief of the inhabitants of Potter Row and The Lee –

The re-aligned Lane crossing the Green Bridge (31-Oct-2026) – more pictures

The Lane reopened ahead of the scheduled date – 2nd November. Much landscaping and planting of the surrounding area remains to be done. This includes connecting the bridge to the original flightline along the oaks; we hope to be invited to discuss this soon on a site visit

and the Bats remain …

We set out three bat detectors over 13 nights, at the end of August – beginning of September, and recorded 37 Barbastelle passes at our usual location on the Lane, and a further 15 passes at the junction of Leather Lane and Potter Row. . The peak of activity at this time has been observed in previous years, suggesting the presence of juveniles and possibly a maternity roost nearby. Barbastelle passes exceeded the numbers recorded in previous years, despite the intensive construction activity over the past 18 months. Just as well – suppose you built a Green Bridge, & nobody came ?
