Spring 2026

While the Lane remains closed, the Green Bridge is taking shape –

and can be seen from the corner of the copse (with Ilona to the left of the bridge) –

Years of campaigning have finally produced results on the ground !

While we wait for the Bat season, we remain concerned about the temporary Bat flightpath. The flightpath along the north side of the lane appeared reasonably successful, but this has now gone, as has the section of old lane crossing the trace. The green line in the upper picture is the replacement, which unfortunately terminates nowhere in particular at the haul road. As can be seen from the lower picture, every 3rd fence panel is covered in camouflage netting, rather than the double fence & netting used previously which might sound a bit like a hedge (to a bat), .

Given that HS2 have gone to the trouble to redesign the bridge, you might expect that they would also take the trouble to ensure that the bats remain on the Lane to use it ?
