Align have announced that the bridge should now open on 2nd November; the basic structure appears nearly complete. We remain concerned about the bat flightlines, although our recent bat meter deployment recorded two good Barbastelle candidates, at the end of June.
Once the lane re-opens, we hope to meet the Align ecologists, to discuss how the flightline over the bridge can be connected with the remaining oaks, and what temporary measures might be required, before the new planting matures. We will also ask how the site is to be managed, once the civil engineering phase is complete.
Meanwhile, we are continuing our program of Bat Walks at Bowood Lane, about half a mile further down the track. The bats have been most co-operative, so far !
